After nearly 10 years and a
long wait Dan Aykroid has decided to devise a 3rd ghostbuster movie! Teamed
up with Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman they have already completed the script
and filming has already begun!
In 1997 Dan Aykroid Announced that he was
working on a 3rd ghostbusters script with Harold Ramis
Rumors have been floating around
and here are a few of them

Bill Murray tidbit
Scoop fetched by Jon Leonard
Here is a Bill Murray tidbit for you. Its
Dan Aykroyd talking about
Bill's apparent disinterest in the project.
" ' He hasn't really pushed like we need
him to,
he's the driving force. Without him what
are they? ' "
- Dan Aykroyd
concerning Bill Murray's rejection of his
role in GB3. (Jon Leonard)
Now, I have no clue how old this is, but
I hope its old, and Bill Murray isn't still rejecting the film.
Yesterday, Martin Victorin, reported that
Dan Aykroyd made some crazy cast
choices. Read it for yourself:
October 25, 1998... Some interesting casting
rumors: "Recently news I have
overheard is that Dan Aykroyd spoke with
former 'Seinfeld' star Jason Alexander,
and he asked Jason to maybe consider playing
a role AS a ghostbuster in this
upcoming film sequel. Dan also mentioned
that he is thinking about having Jeff
Daniels and a peewee ghostbuster Will Smith
step into the cast lineup." [Scoop sent
in Anonymously]
Apparently, George and Jeff Daniels are in
GB3. Well, forget it. Thats the most
ridiculous idea I've ever heard. Although
I have no evidence to prove this is wrong,
check out, Sent in Anonymously. That means
that the guy playing the prank didn't
want to leave his name, or his email with
Corona. Interesting eh? I'm going to investigate further into this matter.
Slimer Jr. reports on the GB Message Board that a proposed title for the
new film is,
"Ghostbusters : Lost Dimension" Sounds like it could be. The Ghostbusters
get Technology to
travel dimensions (as rumours have said) so the name seems to fit the plot.
This appeared in a
magazine, "COSMOS" #179. If there is more to report, you'd better believe
I will!
I was looking for Ghostbusters 3 information and surfing through sites
and came to:
a Will Smith site. There they had a bit of Will Smith Ghostbusters 3 info!
The editor received an
email from one of its visitors.
I have been confirmed by 2 different sources that Will Smith, has connected
to the Top Secret
Ghostbusters 3 movie. The movie is scheduled to be released late 98, or
early 99. All the old
Ghostbusters have signed on and a script is on the drawing board. If he
does sign he will be a new
trainee. I sure hope he does sign because my reports have informed me,
that it will be a Deeper
and Darker movie than the other 2. Reports have also informed me that there
will be a new
Ghostbuster theme song. ( if Will signs he may do the new song).
Treat it as complete rumour, but who knows?
I'm not sure how old this info is, but maybe the Ghostbusters 3 movie is
TOP
SECRET!
Fan Fiction contributor to the site, R2,
emailed Dan Aykroyd at his Psi Factor email address, about Ghostbusters
3, asking
what is going on. R2 then received this reply
:
'How does everybody know! We're
just finishing the
script. I can't tell very much
more only that it is a
definate possibility. Shhhh!
It's a surprise!
Signed,
Dan Aykroyd
Definate Possibility? I thought we were further into
production than that. Oh well, its from Dan Aykroyd's
mouth, so he must be talking of the truth.
Also, the scheduled release date for the third Ghostbusters movie is set
for sometime in 2000. Movies like
this only come out every 1000 years... The
Countdown to 2000 begins now!
Info found on Dark Horizons Scoop fetched
by Tim the Terror Dog on GB Message Board
This is by word, what the scoop said, (damn
them, they spelled Aykroyd, Ackroyd)
Recent buzz from Los Angeles indicates pre-production
is in full swing and shooting will
begin very shortly. While Dan Ackroyd and
Harold Ramis have written the script, writer
Todd Phillips ("Frathouse") is being asked
to do a quick 'beef up and polish'. Thanks to
'LA Rite'.
I know, I know, your all saying, "Todd Phillips,
who?". Well, I did the research,
apparently he was in "Screwed" and "Frat
House". I know, I know what? Well, follow
this link to Todd Phillips' Filmography on
the Internet Movie Database, and maybe it will
clear it up.
Will this mean, NO CONAN O'BRIEN? Well, probably,
unless, Conan did his thing and now Phillips has come in to correct
his writing.
I recieved a lead
about Ghostbusters 3 off The Ghostbusters Message Board. The lead was in
the IMDb. It consisted of
Dan Aykroyd's latest picture set to film
is "Sundowning" . It said filming was to start this October. So when is
he going to shoot
Ghostbusters III?
First off, some
think that this, "Sundowning" could be, GB3. Well, I'm certain its not.
If it is listed in The Internet Movie
Database, its a true fact. It says the CAST
so far is, Dan Aykroyd and Kirk Douglas . But, one setback, is that Corona's
Coming Attractions didn't list anything about
it.
I have recieved a rumour via email about
this tiny actor named, a Mr Bill Murray!
The rumour is that Bill Murray has signed
on to star in GB3, and with the whopping paycheck for Murray, they didn't
have
enough dough to pay Will Smith's cheque.
We're close. I can feel it. ( sent in by The Slimy Sticky thing )
"Ghostbusters III" composer George Fenton
:
When asked about composing GB3 the reporter
got this info :"he's ( George Fenton ) taken a handshake agreement to score
the project." Whether that means things are
moving along or not remains to be seen. ( sent in by Colin )
Posted by Zonker T Harris on The Ghostbusters
Message Board
On the Morning X,
with Barnes, Leslie, and Jimmy, they interviewed Dan
Aykroyd and asked about a possible Ghostbusters
3. His reply? "Yeah, well, Harold
(Ramis) and I have an idea, but without (Bill)
Murray, it's tough."
There you have it. It sounds like Bill Murray
is too good for GB3 or he is just being
stubborn and won't sign on. Or maybe, Dan
Aykroyd's writing is scraping the side of the
toilet bowl ( in other words, its bad )
Yesterday, I was
looking for "the email Conan O'Brien" link on NBC.com that
was posted on GB homepage message board.
I found none, but managed to find the
most popular Conan O'Brien site. ( it was
linked from NBC.com. not bad ) I preceeded
to email the guy asking if he knew anything
about the Ghostbusters 3 situation. I received this reply today.
"I have heard NOTHING about this."
"As co-writer and
co-star of the Ghostbuster series, I'm proud to announce that Ghostbusters
3 will begin filming July
27, 1998. It will star myself, Harold Ramis,
Ernie Hudson & Bill Murray."
The post came from
a Texas internet server, which raises one questions : What the heck was
Dan Aykroyd doing in
Texas? But first, the problem is that if
it came from a Texas internet server, it couldn't have been Dan Aykroyd,
because he
lives in California and summers in Toronto.
The second problem is that the email return address was not valid. So we'll
call that
a prank. The only problem is it really sounds
like Aykroyd posted that. Oh well.
The Statue of Liberty : Hell-Style
- I was surfing for GB3 info as usual and came to GBHQ Here it is!
Bill Murray's negotiators have apparently been working out a deal with
SONY for him to be in, a huge sequel due out. May I say "Ghostbusters"?
Hmm. As well Troy Benjamin saw Annie Potts on 'The Howie Mandel
Show', and she said she was trying to get away from comedy, but seemed
to say "with the exception of..." GB3? As well it has apparently been
confirmed Sigourney Weaver will not be in the new film.( info by Troy
Benjamin )
"Looks like Ghostbusters 3 is becoming more
of an apparition. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are now working on the script.
Ivan Reitman may sign on as Executive Producer."
Will Smith
- Will Smith will almost guaranteed be in
Ghostbusters III. While checking around for new info I returned to a very
excellent
GB3 source. It says Will Smith was confronted
in Germany and asked about the rumours of him being in GB3. He said he
was
jumping aboard and would appear. Another
rumour says he is very close to writing it in ink that he would appear.
( Info by
Anthony M )
- Bill Murray has said he will definatly
reconsider starring if Will Smith appears in the film. I guess he likes
Big Willie. Very
good news but I have absolutely no idea what
the heck is wrong with Mr Murray. Make up your bloody mind! Again nothing
on Conan O'Brien. I put that news for him
starring in LIMBO. But fear not, he is definatly writing it.
URGENT! A quickie ad has been rumoured to
appear at Christmas for Ghostbusters III advertising for
next ?Summer?. Like the upcoming remake of
Hitchcocks "Psycho". It will most likely show the new
logo, Parker's classic theme, a few names
and the release date.
- Some plot info has been found, so here
goes . . . It seems the new film, due out nextsummer, will star
Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Will
Smith, and Ernie Hudson. The film starts off with the four
original boys and Peter Venkman wants to
leave the Ghostbusters. As all this happens, it seems a
supernatural force from Hell wrecks havoc
in New York City. Peter lives up to what he said and leaves.
As this soon-to-be major bust approaches,
there is a spot to fill Peter Venkmans, slimy jump suit : Will
Smith. No word on Conan O'Brien, Annie Potts
or Rick Moranis.

Taken from Ain't it Cool News
Ghostbusters 3 & 4 News!!!
It was confirmed today at the official All Star Cafe by screen writer and
actor Dan Aykroyd, that
Ghostbuster's 3
will end with"To Be Concluded." (Like the end of Back to the Future 2.)
Dan was quoted in
saying to USA Today
reporter, Danielle Gray that, "It was unintentional. But when we actually
began planning the
movie with Columbia,
we found out that the script was just too long to view in one sitting."
Dan also told reporters
that Columbia didn't
like the idea of making a fourth installment to what was "supposed" to
be a trilogy, so they
told him to cut
some scenes out. However, even though Dan took several scenes out, Columbia
found that the
movie was still
too long, and agreed, after Dan rufused to cut anymore scenes from his
script, to make the last two
hours a whole other
movie that will be out nine months after Ghostbusters 3 hits theaters.
On that note, the question arises: "Will this delay Ghostbusters 3 arrival
in theaters?" Well, if Columbia
decides to run production
for both part 3 and 4 at the same time, then the answer is "Yes." This
is most likely
what will happen
since the same cast and scenes will be used for both movies. It would be
much more economical
for Columbia to
take that route, but none the less much more discouraging for the millions
of Ghostbuster fans
around the world
awaiting part 3. I'll keep you updated on the situation. (Look for this
report tobe in the March
10th paper in USA
Today.)
Note : Unfortunatly,
nothing ever showed up in USA Today.
Dan Aykroyd Turns From "Blues Brothers" to "Ghostbusters"
With "Blues Brothers 2000" under his belt, Aykroyd may turn his attention
to reviving "Ghostbusters." The
biggest comedy hit
of 1984, it was sequelized five years later in another huge hit, "Ghostbusters
II." Among the
hurdles facing "Ghostbusters
III" is the fact that Bill Murray and director Ivan Reitman do not want
to return.
"The concept is that there's a positive image of life and there's a negative
image of life. Hell is not some
distant place, far
away from this dimension or realm. Hell is right next door. It's like those
old tintype photos
where you turn them
one way and they look positive, then you just flick them slightly and they
look negative.
That's our concept.
Given the right technology you could flip the switch and all of a sudden
the positive that we
see in this room
suddenly becomes negative. It's kind of neat.
And then :
"We're going to set it in New York and do a Hades version of New York,
very close to life in the city as
we perceive it now.
You look down at the river and there's a ferry of Wall Street commuters,
except they're being
shoved off with
pitchforks into the river which is now boiling blood. Flick it back and
it's just the Brooklyn Bridge
and just a normal
traffic jam. Carrying that through, I think we can have a lot of fun."
Listen to Dan Aykroyd discussing Ghostbusters 3!
about a 30
second download. Listen at the 10 second mark where Aykroyd says : "...Billy
doesn't wanna do it,
neither does Ivan Reitman", he sounds really PO'ed!
In Newsweek's latest issue, the magazine focuses on the new Hollywood landscape
of astronomical
budgets and star
salaries. The article briefly mentions the possible deal for a forthcoming
Ghostbusters 3: with Dan
Aykroyd, Bill Murray,
Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman controlling the rights in tandem, they allegedly
asked
Columbia Pictures
for more than 40% of the second sequel receipts; now word is they've lowered
their
expectations, except
for Murray who still wants a big paycheck for not starring as the picture's
lead. The article
also mentions that
so far, it's just Ackroyd's treatment and no finalized script.
( from around January
)
( from about March
'97 )
"It's time to find a new team and continue the franchise. I'd love to see
Chris Farley in there."
- DAN AYKROYD
( September '96
)
Harold Ramis discussed
the proposed third Ghostbusters movie. He's very interested in the idea,
and describes
the concept as the
older team training a new, more 'handsome' team.
Aykroyd says that Chris Farley "would make a great ghostbuster" and that
he's talked to Chris about the
project and informed
him that a role is being written for him. Aykroyd would also love to see
Will Smith in the
film, but after
the success of ID4 and Bad Boys, that is highly unlikely.
"I've completed one draft of the script, and Sony definitly wants to make
the movie, and so do I. I would
want to do it with
Harold (Ramis). We have been discussing it and are going back into meetings
now. They will be
doing the film,
he says, without their original Ghostbuster teammates, Bill Murray and
director Ivan Reitman.
"They want to concentrate
on other things" says Aykroyd. "I can definitly see Chris Farley stepping
into the cast,
he'd make a great
ghostbuster, and so would Will Smith. I've already talked to Chris about
the casting and have
told him I'll be
drafting the part for him."
The News
April 8, 1998 -
In As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson, Harold Ramis plays the brief
part of a Jewish doctor
and he is looking
quite plump in his old age. I hope he can fit the GB suit on or else they'll
have to computer
animate him to make
him thin. 'Sent in by David'
Dan Aykroyd's GB3
Script is...
A Complete Mess!!
- Dan Aykroyd has
submitted to Columbia, a proposed script for the GB sequel, and it is a
COMPLETE mess.
His idea for a dark,
gloomy New York, like in "The Crow" movies was obviously a bad idea. Apparently,
Columbia has brought
in an unknown ( Conan O'Brien ) to help Aykroyd and Ramis write the script.
Please
remember, Harold
Ramis did not write the script. It was all Dan Aykroyd. So don't think
Harold Ramis has lost
the goods, because
he sure hasn't. Now if they just let Harold Ramis write the script, we
would have Ghostbuster
gold...
May 23, 1998 - Bill
Murray has reportedly signed on to do the third film. Will Smith wanted
$25m but they gave
Bill Murray $20m
to return. Very smart move, but not necesserily a wise financial move.
Will Smith has about
quadrupil the star
power. We will get a better picture though, Smith would ruin the picture.
PLEASE remember.
This is not confirmed,
its in the air and rumoured. 'Sent in by Michael'
May 25, 1998 - "Soul
Man" has finally been put out of its misery and has been canceled by ABC.
The show
about a priest was
given the big boot. Before, Harold and Dan claimed they were very busy
and didn't have time
to concentrate on
the GB3 script. Now, with "Soul Man" finally down with, they can concentrate
on the sequel.
On holidays I actually
brought myself watch it and thank my lucky stars it was canceled! It was
absolutely
atrocious!
June 1, 1998 - A
year and a half ago on Martin Victorin's GB3 page, a scooper mentioned
Conan O'Brien's name
possibly linked
with the picture and possibly helping to write. After Dan Aykroyd's script
was reported messy,
Columbia brought
in a younger writer to help Dan Aykroyd and now, Harold Ramis write. Could
that possibly be
O'Brien? Maybe.
Nice to see, he could easily be better than Dan Aykroyd at writing. 'Sent
in the "Conan Man" '
Conan O'Brien ?
A Head-Writer ?
A Lead-Role ?
Through the course of development for the latest Ghostbusters installment,
many rumours
have come snd gone. Pauly Shore ( television's Pauly , and flops In the
Army Now and Bio-Dome )
was rumoured for a few mments to be in it while Chris Farley was signed
on until he died of a
drug-overdose. One name that came up a long time ago, was Conan O'Brien,
of Late Night with
Conan O'Brien. His name died out until recently, when Dan Aykroyd's proposed
"Ghostbusters III"
was a waste of pencil and paper. With Dan Aykroyd's tired comic ways now
very obvious, Harold
Ramis began to help Aykroyd write. But Columbia, after reading the bad
script, decided to bring in
a fresh comedian and writer.

The Ghostbusters in GB3
Find out not just who is in it, but I'll tell you every
actor's position in doing the new films + more
Bill Murray . . . . . . as Doctor Peter Venkman
Murray has been reluctant ( as always ) to star in the third ( and possibly
4th ) movie in the Ghostbusters series.
This is no big deal though. Bill Murray has fought and whined and screamed
before appearing in any movie he
has ever done. ( Not inluding "Ghostbusters" ) He has been offered a whopping
paycheck, and rumours are
flying around that he is in it, and/or Will Smith took the role.
Dan Aykroyd . . . . . . as Doctor Raymond Stantz
Aykroyd will return as Stantz, of course because Dan Aykroyd is writing
the script.
Harold Ramis . . . . . . as Doctor Egon Spengler
Ramis will play Spengler, but he'll need to cut some pounds.
Ernie Hudson . . . . . . as Winston Zeddemore
He really wants to do the third film but trys to hide it by saying " .
. . if the script is good". Due to his latest period
of having no work ( except for the televison show Oz ) he'll jump at the
chance to be in the third film.
Other lesser roles in GB3
Every actors position in doing the film + more
Rick Moranis . . . . . . as Louis Tully
Hasn't had a theatrical release since Big Bully so you can pretty much
guarantee he'll be it.
Will Smith . . . . . . as _________________
Smith has had talks with Dan Aykroyd to possibly appear and screw up the
new film.
- Lots of MONEY -
Annie Potts . . . . . . as Janine Melnitz
No work, all play, makes Annie need a role.
Conan O'Brien . . . . . . as _____________
He is helping writing, so he'll want to be in it.
- The Boys Behind the Scenes -
A explanation of everyone involved in the picture besides the actors
Written by . . . . . . Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Conan O'Brien
Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd are back as writers but this time they got
some help : Conan O'Brien. He is
helping Ramis and Aykroyd write the "hades" script. (see picture above)
Now that Aykroyd turned in a trashy
script with that Hades idea, I am not sure whether they will ditch that
idea or stick with it.
Produced by Dan Aykroyd,
Trevor Albert (executive) and
Ivan Reitman (executive)
Obviously Aykroyd is producing because he is so anxious to do another sequel.
Trevor Albert of the
Multiplicity, Club Paradise and Groundhog Day fame will most likely executive
produce, seeing as he is
involved with every one of Harold Ramis' movies. Reitman has said he is
not going to direct but wants to
executive produce.
Directed by Harold Ramis
Very good news considering that Multiplicity and Groundhog Day were both
good movies. And his direction
might be enough to save the film from being a complete dud.
Original Music
Elmer Bernstein
George Fenton
Danny Elfman
Elmer Bernstein did the original music while Fenton is listed on IMDb for
doing the music. Danny Elfman "would
love" to do it. Your call. I say Elfman, that song he did for "MiB" was
wicked. As well as the song he did with his
band "Oingo Boingo" for the '85 film "Weird Science".
"Ghostbusters"
performed by Ray Parker Jr.
"Untitled"
performed by Will Smith
Will Smith will do a song if he is in the movie and count on it being a
rap/crap song like in "MiB". I wouldn't
count on Parker Jr. recording another Ghostbusters song, he is kind of
washed-up. Expect clips of the original
"Ghostbusters" song though.
